Has the battle for Azeroth tempted you to try World of Warcraft – or even come back. Get (back) into the game the easy way with these tips and advice
So all the excitement about azeroth interested you in playing World of Warcraft. many years, but you think it’s time to take another look. Either way, we’re here to help you get started (or restarted) on the biggest and best MMORPG around (sorry, Elder „scrolls online> and Guild Wars 2 fans, but you know it’s true).
What do you need to play?
For starters, you don’t need a fight for Azeroth. In fact, you don’t have to throw a dime to try World of Warcraft. These days, Blizzard offers World of Warcraft a limited starter, which allows you to create new characters and get them up to level 20. You don’t have access to any of the domains or searches added by the latest expansion packs, but you do have a decent piece of content and an opportunity to explore some of your favorite sites and search lines in game, along with all the basic races and lessons.
Even after that you don’t need a Battle for Azeroth. Pay for a subscription (£ 9.99 a month) and unlock all the content from all six previous extensions, including all races and classes, and it can take your characters up to level 110. Honestly, that’s enough World of Warcraft to keep going for the next five years.
If you’re a beginner or returning, the best reasons to win the battle for Azeroth is that (a) it comes with an acceleration level that will take a character straight to level 110, even from scratch, (b) you can join the new action at the same time as everyone else and (c) it’s a big expansion so far. However, if you are new or have missed the latest extensions, you will find it all quite strange. The game is polite enough to give you a bit of a refresh on the basics before you throw a new or enhanced character into battle, but be prepared to spend a lot of time wondering what the various elves, orcs and warriors are while stealing FAQs for simple information like how to call mounts.
Starter Edition now has great gaming tutorials and is definitely an easier way. It’s a great way to catch the World of Warcraft bug.
How does World of Warcraft play?
World of Warcraft was built as a smarter, streamlined version of a classic MMORPG fantasy, and the basic experience hasn’t changed that much in fourteen years. Wander around the various continents of Azeroth, searching for different non-player characters (NPCs) and competing with a series of scary, sometimes comical, and often sad enemies.
The battle is not as real-time as it would be in a more action RPG like The „witcher iii> or The“ elder scrolls: skyrim>. Instead, you select targets, and then use different spells or combat abilities to kill them or to enjoy yourself and / or your comrades. You basically set these abilities on the skill bar, where the boxes correspond to the number keys on your keyboard, and then press away until your enemies are dead.
That makes it simple, but it’s not. There are levels of strategy for how you spend your spells and skills, how you work around their service times, and how you pursue one skill with another to strike an enemy out of balance. and then hit him with a massive hit. You also have to move a few times to avoid inbound attacks.
But there is more to WoW than combat. It’s also about exploring one of the largest and most loved detailed game worlds out there, beating your character out with the best armor and armor, collecting posts to drive and pets to keep you company, and grouping and the fight as a team.
Do you have to play in a team?
Not really. Many of the contents of World of Warcraft can be solo, though you often find yourself helping another player (or helping) when working on the same goals. One of the great pleasures of the game is that these ad-hoc alliances sometimes turn into a longer-lasting group. Players who take the game seriously, however, will often join the Guilds to get some friends and take part in larger-scale attacks.
Raids are the team’s major activity in World of Warcraft, where a team of ten to twenty-five players tackle a specially designed mission, which usually evokes a great fight. They are great events designed for players who know what they are doing, and you will find some Guilds taking a very full, tough approach to them, wanting players who commit to running so many raids a week. However, there are other Guilds that are a little more relaxed, with players happy to show Raid noobs on the ropes.
If you’re not ready for Raid, WoW is also full of dungeons. These are smaller-scale missions designed for teams of five players, which usually usually end in one or more boss battles. These days, you can expect a dungeon queue via the built-in WoW adventure guide (there’s a button for it in the lower right corner of the screen) and the game will suit you with other players as well and put you in a cut off part of the game is intended for you and your team).
Do you play against other players?
Yes and no. War has always been a part of World of Warcraft and when you start the game you sign one of the two teams – the Alliance and the Horde. The two have different races, classes and search lines available, so it makes a big difference to choose from. Cleverly, the Horde are not necessarily bad guys and the Alliance is good – they are two groups struggling to survive, each with its own motives, its own heroes and its bad apples.
Warcraft’s Player-to-Player (PvP) approach has changed in recent years. In the old days you had dedicated PvP servers where Horde and Alliance players could attack each other in spectacle. Now everyone is playing on the same servers, but players can opt in or out of PvP, with additional XP rewards for participating players. You can also fight the enemy at Battlegrounds – where two groups of players face objective battles – and Arena, where small groups of players fight to the death. These are not active all the time, only during an open season, where Blizzard can raise your points for winning and winning.
What match should you play?
It doesn’t really matter. Everyone has their pros and cons, though some are a natural fight for some categories – Night Elves often do great damage to Magic, Rogues, and useful Druids, while Taurens make natural warriors and hunters. The most tangible implication is that your race choice dictates where you start the game and the initial quest lines you will go through while getting used to the game.
And what about the lessons?
Again, it’s up to you. When you do quests, some classes may have a little more difficult time than others, but the game is balanced so any category can handle most tasks on its own.
Once you play in a team, however, you need to understand the role your class plays in a team. Some categories, such as the warrior or the paladin, are tanks. They attract enemies and rely on high health and armor to prevent attack. This leaves the less powerful high-risk ‚DPS‘ categories, such as scammers, Macedonians, magicians and hunters, free to devour the pain of monsters. Therapists, meanwhile, keep DPS tanks and players healthy and charmed with offensive and defensive bonuses.
Warcraft mixes things up a bit with some classes that double as a tank and a healer or a tank and DPS or that can work in any role depending on their tools and abilities. The important thing is that you know your role and play in the dungeons and raids. If you are a tank, take the road and take your punishment. If you are a DPS or therapist, do not start running around the original waste. you will get yourself and everyone else will be killed.
Azeroth is a very big part. How do you get there?
You’ll spend a lot of time in WoW trying to get from A to B, and doing everything on foot gets pretty painful. Fortunately, some areas have gates that can get you quickly from place to place, while others have flying posts that you can rent to take you to specific points on the map. The best way to get through, though, is to get your own mounts.
To drive them you need to learn the proper level of riding skills and you can collect mounts by completing missions, winning them from NPCs, winning favorably with different sub-factions within your clan, or simply buying them from a vendor. And while you can ride good old-fashioned horses, you can also ride a number of more terrestrial-based, fantastic animals, including dragons, bears, dinosaurs, motorcycles, turtles, wolves and hyenas . Once you have a mount, you can call it anytime by going to the Mounts and Pets tab in Collections Magazine or pressing Shift + P to go straight to the list.
And are there other things to do?
In addition to a class, your character may have occupations, training as a blacksmith, engineer, magician, adapter, alchemist, archaeologist, cook or a number of other choices. Not only is this fun, but you will be able to use your skills to collect materials and make or find objects that you can use in your adventures. You will also be able to give or share them with other players.
Any other tips to get you started?
Sure. We have a bunch.
- You will achieve much faster if you take many missions and stack them. You will often find several searchers hiding around the same area and will often give you multiple missions that will take you to a nearby area. Take as much as you can, then go to the area shown on the map (your active mission will have a marker) and complete all of this before returning to the donor quest to complete the quest. You will fill a ton of XP in one go.
- WoW monsters are not too clever and will usually get you into combat as soon as you get there. If you have to fight through a gang of enemies, get them in one or two at a time. Wonderfully, their partners will not be involved in failure.
- You said you were killing a big demon or grabbing a vital item, but you can’t find your target, even if you’re at the right place on the map? I’m going around. Another player may have only slaughtered the boss monster you intend to kill or grab all the items you want to collect. Just wait about a minute and your target will reappear. In fact, it gets quite comical, as some uber-witch boasts of its awesome powers, despite the fact that three players killed it two minutes ago and a dozen others have formed a smooth tail to do the same!
- WoW is not an action game, but that doesn’t mean it can be slow. If you are in a fight, move quickly from monster to monster, prioritizing the most devastating enemies or – if you are in a team – choosing the best targets you can support your team. Similarly, track and find out when monsters have special attacks or area attacks. If there is a large attack mark that appears beneath your feet, move or jump out of there!
- It can be difficult to get into the raid scene. Participating in a guild is a good first step and it’s a great idea to be friendly and helpful in the game. You can also build a dealership by joining dungeon guilds and doing a good job there. Many new players have a terrible reputation for causing scarves and disasters. Play smart and play your part.
